A Legacy of Innovation

The story of the global MetaSystems brand began in 1986 with the founding of MetaSystems, a company dedicated to developing and manufacturing software for automated microscope-based imaging. Building on these roots, MetaSystems Probes emerged, specializing in the design, production, and global distribution of DNA FISH probes for diagnostic applications.

Our History

To meet the growing demand for high-quality DNA FISH probes, a dedicated DNA probe department was established in 1997 at MetaSystems. This led to the launch of groundbreaking products such as mFISH and mBAND. Over the years, MetaSystems continued to expand its portfolio, introducing whole chromosome painting probes (XCP), mFISH probes for mouse and rat models (21XMouse and 22XRat), and many more. In 2009, the company launched its XL portfolio of locus-specific FISH probes, tailored for hematology applications. To address the increasing demand for probes, MetaSystems Probes was founded in 2016 as a sister company of MetaSystems exclusively managing the probes business.

MetaSystems Probes is part of a group originally founded—and still led—by individuals with strong scientific backgrounds. With nearly 40 years of expertise in automated imaging solutions and more than 25 years of experience in DNA FISH probes, we continue to drive innovation and excellence. Our extensive and ever-evolving product portfolio reflects our commitment to development.

Equally important, however, is the human-centric approach that defines our business strategy. Global Reach

To extend the MetaSystems Spirit internationally, MetaSystems has established overseas offices in strategic locations. Starting with Boston in the USA and Hong Kong in Asia, there are now eight branches across China, Japan, India, Italy, and both North and South America. These subsidiaries, along with our exclusive partners in many other countries, are well-trained representatives of MetaSystems Probes and ensure the highest level of local customer support.
